Bringing Government, Philanthropy, and Investment Together To Support Community Plans & Solutions

BACKGROUND

The Communities First Infrastructure Alliance:

Interrupts the long-standing pattern in which communities of color are left out of decisions about their community, leaving the most impacted as the least valued and heard.
Brings together leaders in government, philanthropy, and investment who are committed to driving resources to communities in ways that support community plans, solutions, priorities, needs, and visions for a thriving future.
Engages community-supportive capacity builders and fiscal agents to strengthen their relationships and skills in order to build community infrastructure for community-driven solutions.
Supports communities to steward resources in ways that honor community leadership, plans, and priorities.

Communities First Infrastructure Alliance members are committed to:

• Delivering resources through Community Capital Plans that reflect Community Impact Plans and priorities and vision.
• Strengthening and developing community infrastructure for the successful implementation and impact tracking of Community Impact Plans and Capital Plans.
• Growing community cultural, civic and economic infrastructure for the successful implementation and impact tracking of Community Plans and Capital Plans.

The Communities First Infrastructure Alliance was launched by the Communities First Fund, PolicyLink, Race Forward, Government Alliance for Racial Equity (GARE), in partnership with the New Urban Mobility Alliance (NUMO), Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the New School Tishman Environment and Design Center, with additional leadership support from Greenlining Institute, Emerald Cities, and others.
The Communities First Infrastructure Alliance is working with technical assistance providers, frontline communities, and community leaders to unlock the potential of the various federal funding opportunities to build more just, equitable, and resilient communities.
The Infrastructure Alliance seeks to support communities with the resources, capacity, and technical assistance required to actualize community-centered plans, projects, and visions to meet this moment for the greater movement.
